Ramon Llull im WWW - English Version

![]() | The Freiburg manuscript database Ever since its foundation in 1957, the Raimundus-Lullus-Institut at the University of Freiburg has been building up a microfilm collection of manuscripts of Ramon Llull's Latin works. This unique collection, which is now nearly complete, comprises more than 2200 microfilms, including copies of a great number of printed editions and Catalan manuscripts as well. In order to make this collection more widely accessible, the Raimundus-Lullus-Institut initiated the Internet project Ramon Llull im WWW in the spring of 2000. It is being carried out in cooperation with the University Computing Centre and the University Library of Freiburg, and partly sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. We are planning to digitize our entire archive of microfilms of Ramon Llull's Latin works and to present them on the Internet. By April 2012, more than 650 manuscripts from various European libraries were accessible. Since January 2008 the database is gradually being extended by digitized manuscripts of Llull's works in Romance languages. Thanks to the financing provided by the Patronat Ramon Llull (www.patronatramonllull.org/) we are able to draw on the digitized collection of microfilms owned by the Centre de Documentació Ramon Llull (cdocllull.narpan.net/) of the University of Barcelona. Thus, in the near future, the entire Lullian manuscript tradition will be accessible on the Internet. The manuscript database is part of FREIMORE (Freiburger Multimedia Object Repository), which has been established as the central digital library system of the University of Freiburg since 2001. How to use the database Under http://freimore.ruf.uni-freiburg.de./handschriftsuche.htm the user will find a query form that provides the option to search for either a) shelf marks of codices or titles of works by Ramon Llull (or the Bonner catalogue numbers: orbita.bib.ub.es/llull/cioarl.asp), b) cities where the codices are located. Each database entry contains the name of the library, the shelf mark of the respective manuscript, and a list of Llull’s Latin works included in the codex. Till present, his Catalan works have only been listed in some particular cases but they will be added to the database in the near future. Spurious works and those by authors other than Llull are usually being skipped for reasons of economy. The title of any given work is complemented by its number in the Glorieux, Platzeck, Bonner, and ROL catalogues. In addition, each manuscript is linked with the corresponding entry in the Ramon Llull Database of the University of Barcelona (Base de Dades Ramon Llull / Ramon Llull Database: orbita.bib.ub.es/llull/), which offers information concerning Lullian works, manuscripts and editions, catalogues, Lullists, and secondary literature. After clicking on Anzeigen, the user may either browse through the pages of the codex or search for a certain folio by typing its number (e.g. 52r) in the field Gehe zu. For better legibility the images can also be viewed in their original (large!) size by clicking on Details and then on the files/folios listed there. The digitized manuscript can be downloaded by clicking on ZIP generieren (zip program required!), single images by clicking on Details first, and then choosing the folio by single-clicking on the right mouse-button and saving it.
